Efektivitas Muscle Energy Technique dalam Mengatasi Mechanical Neck Pain: Literature Review

Latar Belakang: Nyeri leher mekanis/mechanical neck pain (MNP) didefinisikan sebagai nyeri pada bagian belakang leher dan atau area bahu dengan gejala yang dipicu oleh postur leher, gerakan leher, atau palpasi otot cervical. Muscle energy technique (MET) adalah salah satu intervensi yang sering digunakan dalam mengatasi MNP, MET merupakan metode manipulasi jaringan lunak osteopatik yang dirancang untuk mengembalikan fungsi normal dari sistem muskuloskeletal dan mengurangi rasa nyeri dengan mengkombinasikan arah, control, dan kontraksi isometrik dan atau isotonik. Tujuan penelitian: untuk mengetahui efektivitas MET dalam mengatasi mechanical neck pain. Metode: jenis penelitian adalah literature review dengan menggunakan sumber data sekunder yang didapat dari Pubmed, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, PEDro, dan Scientdirect, yang dipublikasikan tahun 2010-2020. Hasil: Didapat 8 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi yang dilanjutkan untuk dilakukan review, rentang intervensi MET pada 8 artikel tersebut berkisar 1-8 minggu dengan intensitas yang bervariasi. MET memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan pada penderita MNP dilihat menggunakan minimal clinically important difference (MCID) dalam menurunkan nyeri dengan rata-rata penurunan 3.88 cm skala VAS (MCID 8 mm atau > −21%), serta meningkatkan fungsional rata-rata 17.25 poin NDI (MCID 10.5 dari 50 poin). Kesimpulan: Berdasar literature review yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa MET efektif dalam mengatasi MNP dengan menurunkan nyeri dan meningkatkan fungsional. Rekomendasi untuk penelitian lebih lanjut dengan mengamati pengaplikasian MET yang mempunyai standar yang sama.
