Background: arthritis is one of them. Edema caused by disorders of the circulatory system and lymphatic system. The aim of this study was to see the effect of the application of the instrument technique assisted by soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) according to lymphatic flow in osteoarthritis of the knee joint. Methods: a quasi-experimental study on 14 joint osteoarthritis (OA) respondents based on the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) conducted at the Elderly Posyandu in Desa Wirogunan, Kecamatan Kartasura. ABA design (A1 = baseline before application, B = IASTM technique application for 6 times given 2 times a week, and A2 = one week follow-up after not given IASTM technique application) is applied to deal with problems of pain, edema, limitation of knee joint scope, functional activities and running applications. Results: The results of statistical tests showed that there was a significant effect of the application of the IASTM technique according to lymphatic flow on the osteoarthritis problem of the knee joint, namely a reduction in pain and edema, an increase in the range of motion of the knee joint, functional activity, and an increase in walking ability after presenting the IASTM technique application for 6 times. The results of further statistical tests showed no significant difference in the follow-up after 1 week of not being given IASTM technique application (phase A2). Conclusion: Administration of IASTM according to lymphatic flow which affects joint osteoarthritis problems and is maintained after 1 week is not given the application of the IASTM technique.
