Abstract

The aims of this study to determine the relationship between overweight and the risk of flat foot. The research method used is a quantitative descriptive study with survey techniques. The total sample consisted of 41 residents of  Komplek BTN Depag, Rangkasbitung. Overweight data was obtained by measuring BMI and flatfoot with the wet footprint test with arch index. The results obtained showed that the mean and standard deviation of BMI were 25.21±3.60, while the arch index for flat foot was 0.25±0.55. Hypothesis tested with Fisher exact test obtained p<0.001 and an OR value of 5.4, which means there is a significant correlation between an overweight and the risk of flat foot, which means the BMI in overweight has a 5.4 times to be risk of being have flat foot then the people with normal BMI. So it can be concluded that overweight can be used as a risk factor for flat foot.
